Frequently asked questions
Is MD5 still safe?
MD5 is broken for cryptographic purposes (collisions are practical). Use SHA-256 or stronger for security. MD5 is fine for checksums.
Where do hashes get computed?
Entirely in your browser via the Web Crypto API (SHA family) and a local MD5 implementation. Nothing is sent anywhere.
What’s the difference between SHA-256, 384, 512?
They are variants of SHA-2 with different output lengths. Longer = more collision-resistant but slower.
